Daddy is enjoying the ER, where we brought Michael on Sunday night.

This weekend some of our family members (Uncle David who was in the hospital the night Michael was born, aunt Lesley and cousins Josh and Ann) and friends (Andy and Nicole) came over to visit (by coincidence, it happened to be all the people that participated in the March of Dimes "Walk America" for Michael).

All weekend, Michael was relatively cranky. Dorothy, Michael's nurse, noticed that his stool was a little loose and told us to monitor it. Michael still does not drink enough milk (between 300 and 400 cc - he is supposed to drink 500 cc per day) and we were getting a little worried about dehydration when combined with his loose stool. We decided to go to the pediatrician on Saturday evening since he's such a little peanut and we didn't want to wait for our appointment on Tuesday. The pediatrician examined him and told us to keep monitoring it and come back for a follow up the next day. Sunday, he was still cranky (even though he behaved for his grandparents). We went back to the pediatrician (this time another doctor that was on call) and she suggested for us to go to the ER and have his blood checked, specifically to have his electrolytes checked.

We had waited for an hour and the after hour office is far from our house. Now we had to drive all the way to the opposite direction to go to the hospital. Luckily Miami Children's hospital was awesome. We didn't have to wait at all and the quality of care was "just what the doctor ordered". Thank you doctor Shaket!! Fortunately, Michael was ok - no urinary tract infection and his blood work (electrolytes) came back good.

Michael is still fussier than usual and isn't' eating/pooping consistently, but seems to be ok. He's definitely got a cyclical nature to him so far, so we'll see how he does overnight. Tomorrow is his first real pediatrician visit, where he'll meet Dr. Perello, who will be taking care of him going forward. Tomorrow also marks his first week out of the NICU :)

And on a very positive note, I want to congratulate my 24-old brother Ehud on the purchase of his first house in Holland!! I am so proud of you Ehud!!!!
