Yesterday Michael went to the Pediatrician. He is 10 pounds, 5 ounces!! He got some of his shots, poor baby. He got really angry :) His legs were a little swollen later on, but at least he didn't get a fever. Since he got his synergis shot, he couldn't get all of his second set of shots at once, so we will have to go back next week for two more...
The doctor gave us the go ahead to start feeding him rice cereal. We were so excited. I waited all day for Robert to come home, so that we could share this 'first' feeding. The first few bites Michael did AWESOME!!! He ate off the spoon as if he has never been fed other than with a spoon. He really seemed to enjoy it. He didn't really mind the different texture either. However, after a few minutes he started crying at each bite. I am not sure if it was because it wasn't fast enough for him, or all of a sudden he realized he didn't like the texture after all.
We tried again tonight and he was crying again, but was curious enough to stop crying after every bite and see what was coming. It was so funny!
I also started weaning him off the oxygen for about 30 minutes today and he did great. The pediatrician said that he couldn't find anything wrong with Michael. That is so good to hear!!
He does have a clogged tear duct, but we massage the side of his nose and that should help.
Natalia, the nanny, brought her mother who came to visit her from Colombia. Her mom is such a nice lady. We are so lucky we found Natalia!!

Great!! congrats to Micheal - before you know it, he'll be eating peas, and squash and carrots...and wearing it too! That's the best part.

Your son so so adorable! Congrats on getting to feed him real food! It must be such a good feeling! Hopefully we'll be moving in that direction soon! And thats great that he is able to come off oxygen for part of the day now, thats a big step! :)
He is so precious! What an exciting step. I hope he does well. Neither of my preemies had the oral motor skills to eat until they were 4-6mos adjusted. They still had that little tongue thrust reflex where they pushed all the food right back out of their mouths. Haha.
