August 1, 2009

Yesterday I took Mikey to the Pediatrician. He had to get clearance for his procedure next week. He has to go under general anesthesia again to see how his Glaucoma is doing. Hopefully it's gone :)
Michael was 24.2 lbs. This means that he is finally (at 2,5 years old) on the growth chart, at the 3%!! We are so excited!!! His length was over 33" so he is on the 10% on the chart.
He is still not eating great and I still give him 2 bottles of pediasure a day. The doctor said that that was fine. Just continue with his feeding therapy.
I asked if he could go back to pre-school in August and she didn't think it was a problem. She said it's probably better if he does get the flu, then he has more resistance. But when she told me that they had over 150 kids in the last 3 weeks with the Swine Flu, that scared me!! I wonder if they are testing correctly :)

My good friend and neighbor Michelle took this picture of Michael on their Harley Davidson a few weeks ago. I thought it was cute :)

We have been so extremely lucky with Michael. Believe me, we count our blessing every day!!!
It's so heart breaking to see that there are so many children out there that are suffering!!
Michelle's adorable little nephew Domenick (he is almost 4) is suffering from a brain tumor.

In November 2008 he was diagnosed with a tumor on his brain stem. He had surgery on January 30, 2009. Unfortunately the tumor grew after surgery and has spread to other places on his brain.

Domenick now has to go to Chemo, Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapy 4 times a week. As you can imagine all their hospital visits and therapy sessions and travel expenses cost a lot of money. His mom had to quit her job to try and make his life as 'normal' as possible. And in the meanwhile she is taking care of 2 other young children!! His dad is still recovering from a horrible car accident a few years ago!!

I ask everyone to try and help out in the best way you can. This is Domenick's website http://www.smilefordomenick.com/home
and there are several ways of contributing or donating for helping this family out.
You can buy (with paypal) a "SMILE FOR DOMENICK" bracelet for only $2!!!
Or you can attend their silent auction, or just donate :)
And for that you get a big THANK YOU, straight from this cutie's heart!!!!

We wish Michelle and her family all the strength and we pray for Domenick to get better!!!!
