It was 4th of July weekend, so Robert had Friday off. My sister arrived last Monday from Holland and we decided to go away for the weekend. Our friends Paul and Tracey didn't have any plans other than a BBQ at Paul's Aunt house and they invited us over to stay with them. We left on Friday and drove leisurely to Tampa. We even drove through Sebring, FL where Robert used to spend his holidays as a child. We drove up on the Porsche race track, it was fun!!
That same night, Tracey was going to Run a 5K at midnight and Anne and I joined her. She did great!! I don't know how she did it, because it was still pretty hot at midnight!!!
Their children Alexander and Lauren were so sweet to give up their rooms for us. Mikey was so confused and didn't want to sleep in his travel bed. It's like a tent and it scared him. We are also going to need it on our trip to Vermont next week, so we'll see how that goes :)
Saturday, July 4th we met up with Brett and Jodi and their kids Lauren and Ben. We all went to Homosassa Springs to see the manatees. I love manatees!! Especially because I compare the shape of Robert's head to that of a manatee. Everybody thinks that that is cruel, but I love manatees and I love Robert, so it's an act of love on my part to do that ;)
Tracey even took a profile picture of Robert and the manatee, so we will have to update that once she sends me those pictures :)
Paul and Tracey had to leave earlier and we met up with them later at Paul's aunt house.
In the meantime we spent some more time at the Spring.

We came home on Sunday and we had a great time. I am also enjoying my time with my sister Anne. We have been shopping, sun bathing and playing with Michael. She has been a great help and even made dinner for us tonight!! Lasagna, it was delicious!!!Mikey has been doing great. As you can see in the video, he is trying to self feed much more. He also learned some new words this week: Bubbles and Meow. So far he can also say Cracker, water (more like wawa) and Night night.
Last week we had a Speech Therapy evaluation and he is going to start ST two times a week. That should help him take off. Right now, 5 words is not enough for his vocabulary. And also because he has auditory neuropathy and it is unclear when he will or won't continue to hear well, we need to take advantage of the present time where he is really responsive to sounds.
Here is a little video I took about 3 weeks ago. It's just a few minutes following Mikey around. If you listen well, he is even trying to say 'night, night' :)

Mikey and his pacifier from the NICU. We finally had to throw it out last week. He used it for 2 and a half years!!! It was the last thing he still used from the NICU :)(Of course, this doesn't mean he stopped using a paci, it's just a different one he uses now)
